About Us
BMCDA was started in 2018 in Kayunga District Uganda by Community Development Volunteers to bring charity and development to the area, but in particular to support vulnerable and active people to live longer and continue contributing to the development of the area. First incorporated as a Company limited by Guarantee in July 2019 (Reg. No: 80020001842779) and later in October 2021 by the National NGO Bureau as a Non-Government Organisation (Reg.No: INDR156364755NB). BMCDA is also registered with the data protection office (Reg. No: PDPO-202410-3761) and has signed MOUs and worked with so far 2 Local Governments in Kayunga and Wakiso in central regions and hoping to expand to other Regions as a national NGO.
BMCDA is steered by a Board of Directors (BoD) who set policy guidelines to allow for the operation of the secretariat. BMCDA’s secretariat is growing steadily from one to four staff headed by an Operations Director and assisted by an experienced and qualified Programs, and Finance management team. The staff are experienced in charity, project planning and management, livelihoods, Educational and vocational training, Maternal and Mental Health programming, civic engagements, supporting marginalized people and Charity Based Rights (CBR) approaches.
Over the past 3 years, BMCDA has implemented various projects aimed at improving the living conditions of people in Kayunga, Wakiso, and other districts. These projects include the construction of a mosque in Kataigwa, Galiraya Sub-County, the provision of safe and clean water sources, and providing shelter for vulnerable individuals. It has been working closely with UMSC in empowerment programs, mobilizing of funds for the needy and orphans, Ramadhan Iftar programs and animal sacrifice during Eid Adhuha. Additionally, it has been actively involved in the fight against COVID-19 by raising awareness, providing liquid soap to public places and vulnerable households, and distributing clothes and foodstuffs to those in need. The organization provided charity to community police, vulnerable people such as the old aged, People With Disabilities (PWDs), and homeless people with the support from well-wishers and members. BMCDA has implemented sound financial management policies and procedures for financial management, administration, and accounting.
With the continuous commitment to supporting more vulnerable people, we are set to create change for thousands of vulnerable, poor and disadvantaged people in Uganda. More recently, BMCDA has been extending its coverage to other parts of Nakaseke and Eastern Uganda with more focus on climate justice and environmental rights targeting more women, the elderly, youth and ethnic minorities for accountable service delivery and strengthening interventions.
